AirAsia flight QZ8501 confirmed to have sunk
After two days of hoping to retrieve the plane and rescue passengers alive, the Indonesian AirAsia flight QZ8501 has been confirmed to have sunk in Java Sea and it was a brutal information to the relatives and loved ones of the families of the deceased, although they had assumed what could have happened.
An AirAsia official shouted at the TV saying “Is it possible for you not to show a picture of the dead? Please do not show a picture of a dead body.” A man who was waiting to hear about his younger brother on board the plane said that his relatives were calm before the broadcast and after seeing the floating dead body, they became hysterical. Similar words could be heard from several members waiting.
Dwijanto, 60, who was awaiting news of his son told that the images shown extinguished all the hope he had that his son will return alive. My heart will be totally crushed if it’s true. I will lose a son,” he said. The TV channel that was broadcasting it, Indonesia’s TVOne, apologized after it. After searching for two days, the search team spotted debris from the plane including an aircraft door, an emergency slide and other debris.
The plane was located six miles from where it was last spotted. A number of dead bodies, almost 40 were recovered from the site by the search crew yesterday.
